What Medicare Open Enrollment is
Medicare Open Enrollment is the yearly window when you can review coverage and make a change. CMS also calls it the Annual Enrollment Period or Annual Election Period. San Diego Medical Group helps you confirm we are in-network for the plan you pick. We are not selling a specific plan.
When it runs
Medicare Open Enrollment is October 15 through December 7, 2026. Plan changes typically take effect January 1, 2027.
What can change
Move between Original Medicare and Medicare Advantage, switch Advantage plans, or change a Part D drug plan during Open Enrollment.
Why it matters
Costs, drug lists, and doctor networks change every year. Last year’s plan may not cover the same care in 2027.
How to switch to a San Diego Medical Group doctor during Open Enrollment
Connect with a Medicare broker
If you have a trusted Medicare broker, contact them to make changes. If you need a broker, we can help you get connected.
Enroll or keep that plan
Enroll through Medicare, your current plan, or your broker. Name a San Diego Medical Group physician as your PCP when the plan asks.
Confirm we take your plan
Call (619) 910-2264. Coverage can vary by clinic. We accept Medicare, Medicare Advantage, HMO, PPO, and cash-pay.
Schedule your first visit
Once you are told coverage is effective with us, you can book. Same-day and next-day appointments are often available.
You can still change your plan during Open Enrollment even if you do not attend a lunch. See our Hillcrest, Padilla, and Southbay clinics.
